26-year-old American Ryan Boarman was attacked by a shark at Balian, a river mouth surf spot in Western Bali, with severe injuries to his arm. The latest reports are that he is recovering well following surgery.
The cause of the fire is as yet undetermined, though the Bukit Peninsula is much drier and more arid than the rest of Bali, allowing the flames to rapidly spread through several warungs and homestays, leaving nothing but blackened foundations in its wake. Thankfully no injuries have been reported.
