It seriously doesn't get much better than this! We went to six senses laamu in July 2015 and it absolutely took things to the next level. An easy 40 min flight from Male airport and a short 20 min speedboat ride across the most aqua green / blue water you've ever seen and you've arrived in paradise. Absolutely no crowds and no people. Six senses is on its own island far away from any other resorts and the neighbouring island has a few hundred locals, none which I ever saw surfing except for a couple of 10 year old kids on broken boards. You seriously have the place to yourself and there are great waves on the house reef that you can access from just paddling off the beach. Once you've warmed up there, the water sports guys will drop you about 800m into a channel next to an awesome horseshoe reef wave that wraps into a nice left. Perfect for some turns and a great intermediate wave. When you're ready for something more serious get the watersports guys to drop you at yin yang. This wave is epic! The outside take off section starts in deep water outside the reef and is awesome for nice big drop take offs and some turns which goes for about 150 metres or more. The wave is a gradual right handed that give you time. If you're lucky and the tide is right the wave makes it through a fatter section and wraps around the reef and speeds up into a suckier fun section that goes for another 100m or so and sucks into a sweet barrel. Great thing about all the wave Le at laamu is that they all face slightly different ways so you can chose the spot that is best suited to the wind . Once your done surfing the resort is epic. The massive wooden main structure that has the main reception are has a great bar with daybeds where you can relax and go snorkelling and see turtles. The two restaurants here are amazing with some of the best food I've ever eaten. The Japanese there is by far my no.1 choice for the setting, service and food. Getting around the resort is also fun on the complementary bikes they give you which you can cruise around on or they will chauffeur you in golf buggies. The other two restaurants located around the beautiful pool and water sports area are also 10/10. We stayed in an overwater ocean pool villa and it was the best place we've ever stayed and we've been to hundreds of places all over the world! Amazing view, perfect pool temp and size, great air con, the choice of eating breakfast in your room watching the fish for no extra charge, the open air bathroom, the presentation cleanliness and attention to detail of everything was something that we've not experienced before. Since returning from the Six senses I've referred two people to go there both who were also blown away. We don't usually go to the same places twice as we always like to do things different but we'd be doing ourselves an injustice if we didn't book another trip back there soon.

Dream Vacation by Susan on October 21, 2013
The entire experience was outstanding! The best vacation we've ever had. We came there for the surfing, however as recommended by LUEX. Unfortunately, due to wind and changing seasons, the swells just weren't there. My boyfriend got one good day of surfing and that was about it.
