We believe in nourishing and balancing the body and mind through a daily diet of vitalising yoga, serene surf and wholesome food within a tranquil environment. Our friendly, highly experienced team will help you develop your own yoga practice, take you surfing in perfect waves – and create the perfect retreat.

Typical Day

  • 7.30–9.30 - Dynamic, invigorating morning yoga class.
  • 09.30–10.30 - Big nourishing breakfast.
  • 11.00–4.30 - Surfing, beach time & other activities
  • 5.30–7.00 - Sunset, restorative, relaxing & meditative yoga
  • 7.00 - Poolside dips!
  • 7.30/8.00 - Delicious vegetarian dinner.

Surfing

The Yoga Surf Retreat surf program aims to make sure you get the most from your experience of the Moroccan ocean whether you are an experienced surfer or have never tried it before. Our surf coaches provide safe, fun, rewarding surf lessons every day of the retreat. Morocco's year round good climate and consistent small to medium sized clean, easy waves mean that it's the perfect place to learn and progress. Our coaches' friendly, dedicated approach will ensure that your progression over the course of the week is beyond what you ever thought possible.

This region is of course a paradise for experienced surfers with every type of point, reef and beach break available. Higher level surfers on the retreat can join our surf camp groups to surf more challenging waves if they wish.

We have many years of experience teaching yoga to surfers and you will be amazed how much the yoga practice helps you in the surf. For beginners and experienced surfers yoga is an essential practice in developing the mental and physical strength required to surf and keep surfing. It’s a sublime combination.

Level 1

Designed as an introduction to surfing, the week will be focused on giving you all you need to know to get going. We'll start on the beach and then move to waist deep water working on board handling and safety, reading ocean conditions, paddling, catching broken waves in the prone position. You'll be up and riding in no time!

Level 2

You have surfed before, know the basics and are practising getting up in the whitewater.

The course will focus on increasing confidence in the waves in order to progress to an efficient stance and increase your wave count. Key points will be paddling into waves and catching waves un-assisted, accelerating your board and the all important pop up.

Level 3

You are outback progressing to green waves, standing up and turning.

The level 3 sessions focus on solidifying the levels 1 and 2 with a view to you progressing beyond the white water. You’ll learn about the paddle out and the techniques to make it easier, board control, quicker take offs, weight distribution. Focus is on wave selection and catching and riding those elusive green waves.

Level 4

You are outback progressing to green waves, standing up and turning.

The level 3 sessions focus on solidifying the levels 1 and 2 with a view to you progressing beyond the white water. You’ll learn about the paddle out and the techniques to make it easier, board control, quicker take offs, weight distribution. Focus is on wave selection and catching and riding those elusive green waves.

Yoga

Our 7 day Yoga Surf Retreats have just got even more perfect, with our inspirational yoga teachers. Jo & Taylor are a dreamy couple, with infectiously great energy, warmth & kindness on the yoga mat, in the shala, on the surf board and everywhere, all the time!

Our Yoga Surf Retreats offer an excellent detailed 7 day introduction to all aspects of yoga for beginners and the chance to dive deep into an enriched intermediate or advanced practice. The week is progressive, studying specific sections of the body anatomically and in relation to each chakra. Each class is carefully crafted by our expert teachers, Taylor and Jo, to strengthen, stretch, inspire and relax each student on all levels of their being. The morning classes are 120-90 minutes of creative invigorating Vinyasa flow. When the morning classes are 90 minutes, there is an optional 30 minute workshop, posture clinic or further practice from 9am each morning.

Each session includes plenty of time for meditation, chanting, music, pranayam, reflection, visualisation and relaxation. Both Taylor and Jo offer optional informative discussions on yoga philosophy & time for 1-2-1 tuition, fullfiling every student's expectations & requirements.

Evening classes are a deep yin or restorative practice to rebalance the body and mind after a day in the surf. Although nothing is obligatory and every guest may do as much or as little as they wish, we offer the chance to practice up to 3.5 hours of inspiring yoga every day.
