Temple Lodge

Indonesia: Bali

Located on the southernmost tip of Bali overlooking the waves of Dreamland, Bingin and Impossibles The temple lodge is the ultimate surfing and yoga escape.

Even though we are only a short 45 minute drive from the airport, The Temple Lodge is completely removed from the hustle and bustle of noisy Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. Near the Balinese village of Bingin, on South Bali's Bukit Peninsula the lodge overlooks the waves Impossible, Bingin and Dreamlands. Looking out from our infinity line pool a guest at The Temple Lodge can feast their eyes on 180° of uninterrupted sea views.

Suites

There are seven suites at the Temple Lodge each with its own unique style of interior decoration and furnishings, three of the bigger suites have stunning ocean views, whilst two of the smaller suites are set closer to the back of the property nestled in a verdant tropical garden. The new Temple Suite has its own private swimming pool! All the other rooms share a cliffside infinity line pool.

Each suite is built using the natural materials available in the area, the roofs are thatched and the walls are coral stone. Inside, wooden furniture and natural fabrics decorate the suites, blending in nicely with the environment.

All our suites have hot water, fans, a private bathroom, a mosquito netted double bed and safes to lock valuables in. The Eagle's Nest and the Annex also have AC.

The Temple Suite

This brand new suite is set in a private garden beside the temple. It offers total seclusion with a private lap pool and pool-side bale. A natural river stone bathroom is an amazing feature. Since the suite is extremely large additional beds can be added to accommodate friends or children. You can either dine in your suite by the pool or join the other guests in the cliff edge restaurant.

The Gecko Suite

Large, private and unusually shaped with its enchanting views of the ocean and the Impossibles surf spot; the Gecko Suite is ideal for honeymooners or a family group. A Victorian bed, the white coral walls, the spectacular sea view shower, the spacious veranda with massage area and the upstairs mezzanine for kids are but a few of the features that place the Gecko Suite at the top of our range.

The Coral Cave Suite

Literally carved out of the coral cliff side, The Coral Cave is one of our best suites, a large cushioned balcony looks out onto the ocean and is a perfect spot for a private candle light dinner. Secluded, spacious and romantic, the Coral Cave is the ideal room for honeymooners.

The Drift Wood Suite

The name says it all, constructed with drift wood collected from the beaches along the cliff and naturally plastered with clay from the property. The Drift Wood suite is spacious, romantic and beautifully decorated, it has a silver Victorian bed and the large garden-like bathroom is decorated with frangipani and other tropical plants and flowers; this suite is fitted for a Maharaja and his Maharani.

The Papaya Suite

Painted Green to fit the name, the Papaya suite is nestled near the back of the property in a verdant tropical garden. Smaller and cozier, the Papaya would be the perfect room for a young couple.

The Spice Suite

The Spice Suite is very peaceful and its private courtyard is filled with lush greenery. It's the ideal suite for a family of four as the two kids can sleep in the Balinese style bale. The open air shower is one of the suite's best features as showering beneath the stars is a pleasure only a lucky few can experience!

The Eagle's Nest Suite

Nestled half way down the cliff, one reaches the Eagle's Nest via stairs that hug the cliff face. This of course makes the Eagle's Nest a suite not suited for the faint of heart. Once down there though the adventurous are rewarded! The stairs lead to the top floor of the suite where a day bed/wave spotting balcony is the perfect spot to chill and watch the sunset or relax in during the day with a good book. The view of the Impossibles Surf Break is spectacular from here. The stairs then continue to the main deck and the entrance to the master bedroom, this air-conditioned room is fitted with a large double bed, mosquito net and a safety deposit box. Outside the bedroom a large deck is an excellent area to sun tan! The only problem this suite has is the slightly higher possibility of monkey raids, so if you don't like monkeys and their occasional morning visits, then the Eagle's Nest is not for you.

The Annex

Less than 10 meters from the Temple Lodge’s front gate, the new villa we’ve recently annexed is a lovely two bedroom option in the heart of Bingin. We renovated it Temple Lodge style and gave it a bit of a revamp. It is now a full part of the lodge with only one real difference; since you have your own pool in The Annex, use of the communal pool at the main lodge is not allowed. The pros however are many: the villa has a kitchenette so if you’re a small family you can self-cater. There is much more privacy of course and the age limit we have at the main lodge doesn’t apply in The Annex. The rooms in the villa can also be sold individually even if you don’t know the people that might stay in the other room should you chose to just take one of the suites; your privacy would still be great due to the way the villa is designed. The AC suites are on opposite end of the villa.

The Nook

There is no WiFi access in The Nook. The Nook is our latest addition, situated just behind The Annex, it’s effectively an annex itself as it’s not part of the main lodge. However, as with The Annex, access to the main lodge will not change in any way; with the only difference being a slightly longer walk to the restaurant. There are many benefits however, The Nook is (as the name might suggest) really, really cosy. It would be like having your own small villa; with a private garden, dip pool and sun chairs, once you’re locked in there’d be little reason to leave… The Nook’s faculties include air conditioning, a king size double bed with mosquito net and an en suite hot water bathroom.
