Fun Facts about Morocco

Cash is King

There are no ATMs in Taghazout, so make sure you stock up on some shiny bills at the Airport or take the scenic route to Tamraght where the nearest banks and foreign exchange offices are located. Don’t even think of getting around using your Amex plastic.

Bring the right currency

The local currency is Dirham. Not Euro, Not Dollar, Not Yen - Dirham

Leave your thick rubber at home

Morocco has an easy water temp between 16 degrees (61 Fahrenheit) and 22 degrees (72 Fahrenheit) all year around. 3/2mm only!

More than just Taghazout

Yes, there is surf around Rabat and Casablanca too!

Moroccan Surf-History

The first surfers in Morocco were soldiers from the nearby French - American military base in Mehdia in the 60s

Dozens of waves

Set yourself up in Taghazout or Tamraght and you have about 15 waves all within a short stroll or drive of each other. AND if you are getting in with the locals or are particularly friendly to your surf guide, you might be able to find about half a dozen more.
