Extended Description

Learn to snowboard at Obertauern

Here you can find simply everything – ideal beginner pistes, comfortabe runs, off piste sections, natural kickers and huge cornices and the Eldorado for touring boarders. Most important is the guaranteed snow at Obertauern (1700 – 2700).

The beginner lessons are held right next to the Kirchbühe lift.

At this lift you will also try a tow lift for the first time. As an intermediate you will use all the other lifts and enjoy riding down Obertauern’s long pistes. If you are a beginner carver or a pro the wide pistes of the Zehnerkar and the Seekareck are recommended.

Our Freestyle lessons are held in the Lonplaypark at the “Kehrkopfbahn”. There you can check your talent in freestyling with the help of our well trained snowboard instructors.

You can do the best Freeride Backcountry in Obertauern. In our Backcountry Centre we provide complete equipment sets with a Splitboard, Snowshoes, avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, rucksack and telescopic poles.

You are a freestyler and want to improve your tricks. Regardless wheather piste tricks, kickers or rails, the lessons will be customized to fit the group and the terrain (piste, park, etc.). Your instructor will show you how to jump, land, pull tricks and make some grabs. You will also lern how to shape a kicker.

The Freestlye Basics courses are held on Monday to Friday from 13:30 to 16:00. You can start on any of these days.

 

Private Lessons - Obertauern

Learn faster! Your instructor will teach you individually and at times which suit you. During a private lesson you will learn much more in a shorter space of time. The instructor will choose the right terrain to suit you and will adapt the training techniques to fit your needs. The date and time of the course is up to you. We guarantee the most highly qualified instructors.

You are spoilt for choice – over 900 Boards, Boots and Bindings can be chosen from.

We have over 900 boards, and therefore boots and bindings for all types of riding. No matter if Hard or Soft, Freeride, Freestyle, Rocker or Race – there is the right equipment for everyone. The majority of our equipment comes from the 2012/13 season. If you are not satisfied with your equipment or you wish to try a different board, no problem – just come to the station and exchange the equipment – for free of course!

In Obertauern you can also test helmets! As off 2009 there is a law that kids have to wear a helmet on Austria’s slopes! We advise anybody to wear a helmet when entering the backcountry or riding hard pistes.

Arrival - Obertauern

Arrivals from Germany past Salzburg as far as Radstadt on theTauernautobahn A10, take the Ennstal exit in the direction of Graz, Schladming. Travel on the main road B146 as far as Radstadt and head for Obertauern. 15 km of local road to Obertauern. You must bring snow chains without exception!

Arrivals from Vienna leave via the South autobahn A2 and the Semmering trunk road as far as Bruck/Mur. There head in the direction of Salzburg on the trunk road and travel as far as Knoten St. Michael. Here travel down the Phyrn autobahn A9 as far as the Liezen exit and then travel down the main road B146 as far as Radstadt. Head left towards Obertauern down 15 km of local raod. You must bring snow chains without exception!

Arrival from area of Passau Travel in the direction of the Voralpenkreuz on the West- autobahn A1, continue on the Phyrn autobahn A9 as far as the Liezen exit and continue on the main road B146 as far as Radstadt. Turn left towards Obertauern and travel 15km down local roads. You must bring snow chains without exception!

From Italy, Carinthia: come down the Tauern Autobahn (Udine-Tarvis-Villach) as far as St.Michael im Lungau and travel down the local road to Obertauern. You must bring snow chains without exception!

Learn to snowboard in Schladming at the Planai

The Planai is the most famous snowboard mountain in the Alps. Made famous by staging the European Snowboard Championship in 1989 and many more events. Here you will find the Blue Tomato Snowboard Testcenter.

Beginner lessons are held on the set aside areas above the snowboard school. Directly next to the school house you will find the base station of the Lärchkogel 4 man chairlift which will take you to the start of the best snowboard runs in Schladming.

The new Horsefeathers Superpark Planai at Weitmoos is perfekt for every Freestyle Snowboarder. Rails, Boxes and Kickers for all levels are the perfect playground to improve your skills. Just 2 lifts away you start in this brand new park.

Beginner carvers and pros usually find the best conditions on the Streicher run reached by the new chairlift or on the FIS run. Off Piste action and huge jumps can be found around the Mitterhauslift and the Burgstall lift. A favoured touring mountain is the Krahbergzinken. Information about guided tours can be obtained from the school leader.

Learn to snowboard in Rohrmoos at the Hochwurzen

Good Freeriding possibilities, a starting point for snowboard touring and most importantly the wide pistes make Hochwurzen a secret spot in the Dachstein Tauern Region. If you still have not done enough riding by evening time then there is a 3km long floodlit piste at your disposal. Or you can have a go on the 7km long floodlit toboggan run.

As a snowboard beginner you will learn on set aside runs directly above the snowboard school. Success in learning is guaranteed with the wide pistes that run from the top station of the Gipfelbahn lift.

Beginner carvers and pros can usually be found on the wide quieter pistes in front of the Seiterhütte at the 4 man chairlift. For Freeriders and Touring Snowboarders the mountains Rossfeld, Guschen and Hochfeld are perfekt. Just ask at the station for your backcountry guide.

Learn to snowboard in Haus on the Hauser Kaibling

Directly next to the base station of the 8 man Gondola in Haus you will find the Blue Tomato Snowboard Shop and Snowboard School. Beginner terrain is located next to the gondola top station and has the perfect gradient for making your first turns. Haus is well known by the locals for its Backcountry and Freeriding possibilities. The runs from the Gipfel Lift are easily reached and offer plenty of powder and jumps.
