Surf Camp Level 1
Who is this for?
Level 1 is perfect for those of you who have never surfed before, or have tried it a few times but never really gotten the hang of it. It will also suit complete beginners without surfing equipment, or those who have no idea where to start. Together with the other participants, our well-qualified instructors will closely monitor your progress. They will make sure that you improve your skills in line with your starting level. We will make sure that you surf on the beaches with the best conditions for you, and also that you will get plenty of waves. We believe the most important thing is that you have fun in the water, get a thrill from surfing, and meet lots of great people at Lapoint Surfcamp Portugal.
A Typical Day
Those of you who are early risers may want to fit in a yoga session before breakfast. Others may prefer to start the day a bit slower with a breakfast buffet around nine o’clock. When the coffee has taken effect, we will do a general run-through of the day and tell you where we are planning to surf. Then we set off for the right spot, where we begin with warming up and a quick briefing. After that, we surf as much as we can until we finish with a summary of the lesson. After 2-3 hours in the water we are tired, the level of endorphins is high and it’s time for lunch. Then you have time to do whatever you like. You may want to do some more surfing on your own, sunbathe, go into town or take a trip to Lisbon.
Sometimes it’s nice just to spend the whole day with the others around the camp pool, sundeck or on the volleyball court. We always prepare evening meals where everyone is welcome and then it depends whether you have the energy for a drink out on the town or if you would rather rest before the next day of surfing.
Surf Camp Level 2
Who is this for?
Surf camp Level 2 is for those who have done some surfing before, had lessons, and feel comfortable standing up on the board. This is a continuation course with focus on taking you out the back and surfing green waves. The focus is also on surfing left or right on the wave, instead of just going straight ahead towards the beach. Each class has one instructor per eight participants, and access to a minivan to get around to the different spots. We look for waist-high or head-high waves that break gently and have plenty of clean face. Where we surf depends on the conditions, but we always go for the best alternative each day.
A Typical Day
Those of you who are early risers may want to fit in a yoga session before breakfast. Others may prefer to start the day more calmly with a breakfast buffet around nine o’clock. When the coffee has taken effect we will have a general run-through of the day and tell you where we are planning to surf. The place we choose depends on the weather conditions. When we arrive at the spot, we do a warm up and briefing, then we surf as much as we can until we sum up the lesson. After a couple of hours in the water, your body is tired and your level of endorphins is high. It’s time for lunch and then time to do what you like, for example, more surfing on your own, sunbathing, a trip into town or to Lisbon. You may spend the whole day with others at the camp pool, on the sun deck or on the volleyball court. We always arrange evening meals where everyone is welcome, and then your level of energy decides whether you go into town for a drink or rest up before the next day’s surfing.
The Right Level?
Our goal is for you to learn as much as possible during your stay. We therefore want to be sure that you end up with the group that best suits you. This means that in some cases, we might move students from one group to another so that we can ensure safety and maximum development. We don’t do any changes without consulting you, but it might be good to know that you can change group after arrival in Portugal, if you feel unsure of which level you belong to.
