Out of the lush rainforest and rugged ocean bluffs comes a David McLay Kidd signature oceanfront 18-hole course meeting world standards never before attempted in Nicaragua.
A challenge to players of all skill levels, Guacalito Golf Course seamlessly melds Mother Nature's contours of terrain while at the same time, preserving the delicate, breathtaking environment that makes Nicaragua's Emerald Coast special. Beautiful hardwood bridges made with fallen timber grace many holes. A special treated-water irrigation system keeps with the resort's commitment to sustainability. And the course's finishing hole, an unconventional par-3, was designed specifically to save mature trees instead of removing them.
The result is a worthy example of golf at its absolute finest.

Private Flor de Caña Tour
Our Flor de Caña rum distillery tour combines nature, adventure and family – all wrapped up into a day of pure Nicaraguan fun.
Located at the foot of the San Cristobal Volcano, in the midst of hundreds of kilometers of sugarcane, lays the 123-year-old Chichigalpa Ingenio San Antonio, where the best rum in Central America – and one of the world’s best – is created. This exclusive experience begins with breakfast at La Terraza at Mukul. Guests are then whisked by private helicopter over Pacific beaches, a volcanic mountain range and Lake Nicaragua before landing at the sugarcane plantation. Here, you’re met with a refreshing Macuá made with Flor de Caña rum. And throughout the day, you’ll learn how this world-famous Nicaraguan rum is produced and visit bodegas where the product slowly ages. Of course, there are tastings, too. You’ll then return to Mukul with an entirely new perspective on rum and the Nicaraguan countryside.
Private Lake House Tour
It is our privilege to offer Mukul’s guests an exclusive escape to the Pellas family’s Cocibolca Lake House. “El Descanso” – or “resting place” – has been in the family since 1930. Here, guests enjoy a serene lakeside setting and a lovely view of colonial Granada, all with personalized service at their fingertips.
By day, guests set off on the Pellas family’s private boat for a tour of Lake Nicaragua’s 365 volcanic islands, called the Granada Islets, which date back to the lake’s formation as part of the Mombacho Volcano. Relaxing activities await back at the lake house, from lounging next to the swimming pool to waterskiing, fishing and kayaking. The evening ends at Mukul with an elegant, private barefoot dinner overlooking at sunset.
