The area offers endless opportunites
Eskimo Snowcat Freeride in FYRO Macedonia is the first snowcat operation in Europe. This is an exotic trip for folks who cannot or do not want to afford heliskiing but are looking for bloody fresh powder, without crowds. This exactly is what Eskimo Snowcat Freeride is all about!
The location Popova Shapka, close to the black sea, delivers some pretty underrated snow storms. The terrain is maybe not as scenic, rugged and wild as you can find it in the alps which are considered „young mountains“. The shape of these macedonian „old mountains“ is rather oval and open. The area offers endless opportunites for varified runs, like a huge playground for only a few lucky riders. If you love tree runs (they have pine trees here!), couloirs, cliffs or wide open, this is your little paradise. And again - absolutely nobody is skiing here. That´s the secret treasure of Eskimo Snowcat Freeride!
The vibes with snowcat skiing are unmatched
Generally - snowcat skiing is considered the little sister of heliskiing. You obviously get much more vertical for your bucks. But that´s by far not the end of the list. It is definitely much more environmentally friendly. Also, the vibes with snowcat skiing are unmatched: it is not as stressful as all those safety procedures to which you have to stick to when heli skiing. Instead, you just kick down while cruising up the mountain - some good music, some snacks, some story-sharing with your ski buddies. Let the good times roll!
The whole trip is peppered by an exotic culture: FYRO Macedonia still has an air of mystery in it. Traditional and super stylish at the same time, it’s struggling to find its place in the postcommunist world. You will also love the food: Super yummy dishes with regional and fresh ingredients, non-industrially grown vegetables and lots of meats. Macedonian cuisine has mediterrenean and middle-eastern influences and is also famous for good wines and other local alcoholic beverages, such as rakija. You have to try some in Skopje, this city boasts electric nightlife! A last night out in Skopje is the royal way to finish this epic freeride trip!
