Ski the Wild West coast of Greenland with 2000 meter runs from summit to sea just south of the Arctic Circle where the sun is up for 18-20 hours a day.
The Guides: Hugh Barnard , Hans Solmssen, and Arne Hardenberg are the guides organizing and guiding the heliskiing in Kangaamiut year after year. Hugh grew up down under in New Zealand, and Hans on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hugh passed his UIAGM exams 10 years ago, and has since taken his clients all over the world heliskiing. Hans gained his UIAGM status through the Swiss guides program in 1992. He has lived in Verbier Switzerland for the past 25 years. Arne grew up in Greenland, raced on the pro circuit for years, competed in the ’98 Nagano Oympics, and works as a ski guide and hunting guide all year long from his home in Nuuk.
Regine Filemonsen is an official “outfitter”, trained to cook local foods in a style we love.
Niklas Fjellgren grew up in the Lapp Lands of northern Sweden herding reindeer. After spending the past 10 years herding reindeer from a helicopter in Alaska, he joins us here in Kangaamiut, Greenland. One only needs to “stick” one landing with Niklas to feel the years of experience this guy has had, landing on all sorts of snow conditions.
Jakob Olsen will take us far out to sea, if conditions permit, on a chase for any unlucky whales. Take an extra thick fleece for this ride towards the Arctic Circle.
