Who comes to Youth Camp?

Basically anyone who can’t make it through the summer without strapping into a snowboard…

If you’re a snowboarder (sorry skiers) of ANY ability level between the ages of 9 and 20 years old – this is the place for you. Whether you come alone or with a friend, you’ll meet snowboarders from across the country and around the globe.

We have campers who have literally never seen snow and campers who are good enough to be pros. The supportive atmosphere at camp allows you to have a great time regardless of your skill level.

How good do you need to be to come to camp?

“I thought I wasn't good enough, but realized quickly that it’s not about that at all!!!”

-Becky, Session 2

“HCSC has something for everyone”

-Dan, Session 1

Every session we have campers who have literally never been snowboarding (although we highly recommend campers who have never been snowboarding to attend Sessions 1, 2, 3 or 4). On the other end of the spectrum, there are always 2 or 3 coaching groups of insanely talented riders that at times give our coaches a run for their money. Most campers fit somewhere 'in the middle'.

About 80% of our campers are 'in the middle' of the ability spectrum.

The majority are low to intermediate park level riders who want to improve their jump, rail, and/or pipe riding. A lot of campers come to camp with little or no park experience, but are want to learn to ride in the park. Many campers are working on straight airs and 50-50’s.  Some are learning 3’s and board-slides, and a few are even working on 5’s, 7’s, 9's and technical rail tricks.

With approximately 30 different small coaching groups with 7 or 8 campers per cooach, you’re sure to be riding with campers that are on the same level. Snowboarders of all ability levels supporting each other, learning new tricks, and HAVING FUN is what it's all about at High Cascade.

How does it work having so many different abilities?

Before you get to camp, you will fill out an ability form with a bunch of questions regarding how long you've been riding, how frequently you ride, what your background (if any) is in the park, and which trick(s) if any you can land. We then look over everyone's ability forms and place you into small coaching groups based on ability.
