Extended Description

Beginner Snowboard Camp

Small Group Size: Maximum 6 people (min 4), Level: Suitable for complete beginners or those with a few days previous experience

Benefit from 5 full days of coaching in small groups. Coaching runs for 5 consecutive days starting on Monday 12th December 2016. This gives you a free day at the end of the week, on the Saturday, to enjoy your new skills.

  • Day 1: Learning the foundations of snowboarding. We will teach you the skills and techniques which will form the basis of your future riding style.
  • Day 2: Teaching you the basics of movement skills which paired with the skills and techniques learnt in Day 1 will keep you progressing with confidence.
  • Day 3: Implementing the skills and techniques gained over the previous 2 days to progress your riding away from the beginner areas.
  • Day 4: New runs/terrain/confidence, skills development on new terrain.
  • Day 5: Even more skills development to get you confidently achieving your snowboard goals.

Technical Performance Snowboard Camp

Small Group Size: Maximum 6 people (min 4), Level: Suitable for intermediate & advanced level riders

Benefit from 5 full days of coaching in small groups. Coaching runs for 5 consecutive days starting on Monday 12th December 2016. This gives you a free day at the end of the week, on the Saturday, to enjoy your new skills.

  • Day 1: Advancing riding technique. We will build on your existing skills by analyzing your riding and focusing our coaching where you need it most. Including equipment advice and optimising your setup.
  • Day 2: Coaching you in the movement skills which will enable technical progression and increase your board performance. We will also film your riding (with zero pressure!) so we can analyse your riding and coach you based on your specific needs.
  • Day 3: Implementing the skills and techniques gained over the previous 2 days to progress your riding across a range of terrain and tasks. The aim is to enable you to use your equipment effectively and develop a fluid riding style all over the mountain.
  • Day 4: Off-piste riding. Taking you beyond the lifts and into ungroomed snow to further advance your riding technique on natural terrain and varying snow conditions.
  • Day 5: Introducing freestyle skills both in and out of the snow park, including switch riding.

Freestyle Snowboard Course

Group size: Max 6 (Min 4), Requirements: This camp suits anyone who is a solid red run rider or above, either with or without previous freestyle experience

  • Day 1: Freestyle techniques including stance, speed, pop & landing and using these to ollie, air, shifty & grab.
  • Day 2: You will learn the fundamentals of buttering and build up to some tricks on the slopes. Take these new skills to the Burton Stash in Avoriaz, where you will learn to style them out.
  • Day 3: How to spin; from small hits on the side of the piste to bigger kickers in the snowparks.
  • Day 4: Jib day on rails & boxes – learning the techniques to master different jib tricks from basic skills through to linked tricks.
  • Day 5: Ride the Avoriaz superpipe – you will learn the core skills required to ride halfpipe and how to land tricks such as hand plants.

Off Piste Freeride Snowboard Course

Group size: Max 6 (Min 4), Requirements: Good intermediate / advanced rider, confident in all conditions and with some off piste & powder experience. A good level of fitness is required.

  • Day 1: Warm up day with an introduction to off piste snowboard technical riding, mountain safety skills & avalanche training
  • Day 2: Off-Piste freeride day with a focus on progressing your riding technique across various off piste terrain types and snow conditions
  • Day 3: Off-Piste freeride day with further development of mountain safety skills and avalanche training
  • Day 4: Off-Piste freeride day
  • Day 5: Off-Piste freeride day

Backcountry Snowboard Course

Group size: Max 6 (Min 4), Requirements: Experienced / advanced rider who is confident in all conditions and has off piste & powder experience. A good level of fitness is required. Ideal for riders who have been on our Off-Piste Freeride week or with previous backcountry snowboard experience.

  • Day 1: Warm up day with a refresher of avalanche & mountain safety skills

Backcountry Powder Safari

Group size: Max 6 (Min 4), Requirements: Experienced / advanced rider who is confident in all conditions and has off piste & powder experience. A good level of fitness is required. Ideal for riders who have been on our Off-Piste Freeride week or with previous off piste experience.

Splitboard Freeride Course

Requirements: Advanced rider who is confident in all conditions and is experienced in riding off piste & powder. A good level of fitness is required as you can expect to hike a couple of hours a day. Group size: Max 6 (Min 4)

  • Day 1: Warm up day with coaching in splitboard setup, touring techniques and a refresh of avalanche & mountain safety skills
  • Day 2: Splitboard adventure in the Portes du Soleil – including mountain safety awareness training on how to access terrain safely
  • Day 3: Splitboard adventure in the Portes du Soleil
  • Day 4: Splitboard adventure in the Portes du Soleil
  • Day 5: Splitboard adventure in the Portes du Soleil

Girls Snowboard Camp with Tammy Esten

Level: Suitable for Improver, Intermediate & Advanced riders

  • 6 half days of coaching in small groups. The group will be split into 2 with daily course content being varied depending on group riding level.
  • Day 1: Advancing riding technique. Tammy will build on your existing skills by analysing your riding and then focusing coaching where you need it most. Including equipment advice and optimising your setup.

  • Day 5: Introducing freestyle skills both in and out of the snow park, including switch riding.
  • Day 6: Backcountry adventure down Vallée de la Manche for advanced group. Similar adventure, if less challenging, for lower group.

Skills Week – Freestyle Camp

Group size: Max 8 (Min 6), Requirements: Suitable for intermediate and advanced riders (no previous freestyle experience necessary)

Each day a MINT instructor will take clients through a different 3 hour morning master class which will focus on the following:

  • Day 1: Airs & Grabs
  • Day 2: Jibbing & Buttery Stuff
  • Day 3: Spin Class
  • Day 4: Rails & Boxes
  • Day 5: Halfpipe & Handplants

Afternoons will be free to practices techniques, explore the epic parks, pistes and tree lined runs of the Avoriaz ski area and soak up the spring sunshine in one of the chilled out cafes or lively après ski bars.effort to reach.
