Terrain described by the operator
Our Heli-Skiing/Boarding area, one of the largest in the world, is the single most important reason you choose to ski and ride with Northern Escape Heli Skiing. We offer our guests exclusive access to over 7,000 square kilometres, (2,700 sq miles or 1.8 million acres), of spectacular high alpine peaks and perfectly spaced old growth forests. To date we have established over 250 runs, with opportunities to ski/board first descents every day, along with naming rights of course, for many years to come.
We ski/board at elevations between 450 m and 2,450 m (1,500 - 8,000 feet). With runs of more than 2,000 vertical meters (6,500 vertical feet), many of which start high in the alpine and end deep in the valley bottoms well below treeline, you're sure to find what you're looking for! Combine our vast mountain terrain with our huge annual snowfall for the ultimate heli skiing tenure.

What awaits you
Northern Escape the best heliskiing experience
If you are looking for an incredibly professional heliski company - this is your choice! Why professional? Because many operators provide a decent set up with cozy lodges, small groups, huge and diverse terrain, plenty of snow, hot tubs etc. NEH offers all of the above and all in very good quality. But what really separates the wheat from the chaff is a well functioning and reliable team behind the scenes. NEH mainly works with long-term staff. The logistics behind the scenes of a heliski operator are super complicated. You have no idea what effort is required to coordinate all skiers, pilots, helicopters, the fuel and so on. You probably want to ski as much as you can without feeling the stress of the whole situation. Whenever a team does not work well together you might notice this with a lot of waiting, slow skiing, time consuming arrival procedures or mistakes in the daily routine. With Northern Escape and their well-trained team you have good chances of getting only the best experience in all respects. As a customer you do not feel any of the stress behind the scenes. At NEH, the "machine" is state-of-the-art, the guides are among the best: ambitous skiing and a relaxed holiday is guaranteed!
Good company and georgeous, sophisticated food
Arriving home at the wooden log-style chalets is very special at Northern Escape. You´ll be treated with some jummy tapas – maybe add a cold beer or some red wine? Thereafter you might relax with your ski buddies in the hot tub? Or even better – go for a massage? The lodging is a very important part of the whole experience. And the incredibly welcoming owners John and Jody plus their daughter Mikaela will make you feel truly at home. They definitely have a talent to create a safe and joyful atmoshpere. Good times - with interesting souls from all over the world!
No down days, this trip is for the real skiers out there
The good company, the absolutely georgeous and sophisticated food prepared by red-seal chefs and an excellent glass of wine provide the perfect recipe to help you recover for the next day. Remember - no down days at Northern Escape, this trip is for the real skiers out there! The snowcats bring you up into the goods even on poor weather and deep powder days.
Northern Escape just introduced some of the most interesting „Unlimited Packages“ in the industry: the Unlimited Package with a twist. The guaranteed vertical is increased as well. If you do not ski more due to bad weather eg - you get a voucher for your next trip. This means unlimited heliskiing with the otherwise risk of overpaying. All in all - a very honest company. Spend your bucks here!
5 reasons to choose Northern Escape Heliski:
- It´s deeper up here. Simply more snow in the North. We are located close to the ocean so we get a lot of dumps!
- Snowcat Back-Up: No down days, ski the freshies on bad weather days!
- Heli Ski a full day on your departure day!
- Easy Access: Two hours by air from Vancouver and only 25 minutes from airport to the Lodge. Relax and ski more!
- Small Groups: Max 6 people fly in the Koala or A-Star Helicopters.
Spa Program
Northern Escape is happy to provide a massage therapy program for our guests. Our therapists incorporate a range of treatments from Swedish relaxation to deep tissue and injury treatment. Particular attention and consideration are taken into account for the needs of skiers and snowboarders.
If you are interested in securing a specific time, we highly recommend booking in advance. If you choose to book your massage in advance, you will be responsible for payment for that allotted time and will be billed upon your check out.
Appointments this year will be booked in multiple open time spaces, so that in the event that you are able to ski later, massages will reflect your return time rather then a specific hour. For example, massage 1 will commence 15 minutes after the helicopters return and each subsequent treatment will proceed accordingly.
In addition, the massage therapists are delighted to offer a thorough stretch class each morning before breakfast to get you limber prior to skiing.

Unlimited Vertival Heli Skiing
Northern Escape Heli Skiing in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada, offers the industry’s leading vertical guarantee.
Add the Unlimited Vertical Option, to either the Classic Ski package or the Elite Ski package, and you’ll not only get unlimited helicopter skiing or boarding, but also your minimum vertical guarantee is increased.
There are never any extra vertical charges, and if you are unable to ski/ride at least the increased minimum guarantee due to poor weather or mechanical breakdown, you are credited the balance toward your next Canadian ski trip with us.
Averaging 44,000 Vertical Meters
The age-old vertical guarantee of 30,300 vertical meters (100,000 vertical feet) per week that the helicopter ski industry has used for years isn’t sufficient any more for most of our guests. With seven full days of heli skiing/ boarding in one of the world’s largest heli skiing locations, we now easily average over 44,000 vertical meters (145,000 feet) in a week!
Book the Unlimited Vertical Option with your ski package, or add it any time up until the final balance is due, no less than 12 Weeks prior to the commencement of your ski vacation package.
With small group heli skiing, our Cat Skiing Backup program, and updated equipment such as really fat skis, we find that we are skiing more than ever before.
The Unlimited Vertical Heli Skiing Option is just that, an option.
Stick with the Classic or Elite Ski Package base price and the standard vertical…or opt for the upgrade to the Unlimited Vertical option and never pay any extra vertical charges. It’s the best way to experience all of our beautiful, natural, British Columbia heli skiing terrain.
Cat Skiing
With the development of our Cat Skiing Backup area and one of the world’s largest helicopter skiing locations, we have made every effort to ensure you have the best skiing and riding experience possible! Although we know that Mother Nature is always in charge, we have upped the odds that you will get to ski every day.
Northern Escape’s 5,500 sq. kilometer heli skiing terrain near Terrace, in the remote Northwest of British Columbia, Canada, is renowned for providing one of the deepest, most reliable, snow-packs on the planet. It is no secret that all that deep fluffy powder doesn’t fall from blue skies. It snows up here, and it is Deeper Up Here!
When It Snows to Heavy to Fly
Along with all that snow may come some challenging flying conditions. When it’s snowing too heavily to fly a helicopter safely to our remote British Columbia mountain peaks, we simply switch to our Cat Skiing Backup. All of our helicopter skiing packages include a reserved seat in our Cat Skiing Backup program and our snowcats are always ready and standing by.
Over the season, our seven day packages average six and a half days of heli skiing and one half day in our Cat Skiing Backup program each week. Check out the Unlimited Vertical Heli Skiing Option as unlimited vertical is nice to have when you ski/ride nearly every day of your package.
Cat Ski Area – 29 Sq. KMs (7000 Acres)
Our Cat Skiing Backup area encompasses over 29 square km’s (7,000 acres), which is nearly the size of North America’s largest resort and has over 50 km’s (31 miles) of snow roads; offering some of the best tree skiing within our tenure. With an average ski run length of over 600 meters (2,000 vertical feet), it is a powder paradise with everything from steep trees to pillows and open bowls.
When it’s storming and the snow is lying deep in the trees, instead of waiting in the lodge playing “Go Fish”, you will be enjoying some of the deepest powder skiing/boarding imaginable, thanks to our Cat Skiing Backup program.
If the weather clears enough to fly while we are out Cat Skiing, the helicopter will pick us up and we seamlessly continue our day of deep powder Heli Skiing. Conversely, if we’re Helicopter Skiing and the weather starts to change for the worse, we will meet the Snowcats and switch to deep powder Cat Skiing.

If the Traveller is responsible for the cancellation, LUEX or the Service provider can demand compensation in accordance with the agreed fixed rates for compensation. If nothing else has been stipulated within the offer/travel confirmation, the fixed rate in the event of the Traveller cancelling more than 30 days prior to departure is 25% of the price of the tour. The Traveller/Group leader is entitled to provide evidence of lower costs or costs that did not eventuate, while LUEX is free to calculate and demonstrate substantially higher costs.

If the Traveller/Group leader pays by bank transfer, LUEX can only facilitate a smooth booking process if the Traveller/Group leader uses the designated booking ID in the purpose field of the bank transfer which is specified in the request for payment. Otherwise LUEX may not be able to assign the payment to the correct booking. A failure to do that correctly can result in the cancellation of a trip in the worst-case scenario.
If the Traveller wishes to book not as a private individual, but as a business traveller acting on instructions or as a legal representative, this must be noted already during the booking process and cannot be subsequently altered. This can have taxation consequences and should therefore be carefully considered.
The customer shall receive a payment receipt in the form of a booking confirmation from LUEX showing the total price, either paid or to be paid to the Service provider.
6. Alterations, cancellations, reimbursements
In the event that a confirmed booking is modified or cancelled, LUEX is to be contacted as quickly as possible in this matter such that a possible solution can be sought in consultation with the Traveller/Group leader. Additional costs that result for LUEX or the Service provider shall be borne by the Traveller/Group leader, whereby LUEX reserves the right to invoice a minimum fee of €50 for changes demanded solely by the Traveller.
Should there be a modification or cancellation by LUEX / the Service provider, LUEX shall also contact the Traveller/Group leader as soon as possible and seek a possible solution.
LUEX notes explicitly that as an intermediary LUEX cannot assume responsibility for the performance of the Service provider. In particular, LUEX offers individual travel-related products and services to exotic destinations. The Traveller recognises that booking and processing these products and services are more difficult and that a higher degree of flexibility is expected of these than for mass tourism.
7. Complaints and ratings
Should the Traveller be dissatisfied with an aspect of the travel-related product or service received in a particular case and wish to submit a complaint, they are to approach the Service provider or their representative directly at the location during their current stay so that this person can attempt to solve the problem. LUEX recommends notifying the Service provider in text form that documents the shortcomings, if possible with the aid of photos.
If the problem cannot be resolved during the stay, the Service provider must be contacted within 30 days of returning from the trip. The Service provider should then respond to the correspondence according to the applicable laws and regulations. Receipt should be confirmed in 14 days and a full response received within 28 days. If this is not the case, an explanation for the delay should be received from the Service provider.
Should the travel-related product or service not match the description on the LUEX platform, the customer must approach the Service provider or their representative directly at the location during the customer's stay. LUEX shall support customers with respect to their complaint. LUEX is to be informed of the facts involved in the situation as soon as possible in order to be able to assist in finding a solution.
The Service provider is to be contacted immediately in the event of flight or transportation problems. Customers are to check information and the general terms and conditions given to customers via the Service provider before the commencement of travel.
8. Visa, passport and travel regulations
The Traveller/Group leader shall pay attention to the special visa, passport and travel regulations for the Travellers and their country of destination. LUEX makes every effort to inform customers as comprehensively and accurately as possible. To the extent that LUEX draws attention to particular details, this can only be considered as non-binding information. Considering the high number and frequency of possible amendments to regulations, Travellers/Group leaders are requested to contact the relevant embassy/consulate for the particular destination. In this respect LUEX can assume no responsibility whatsoever for any assurance, guarantee, currency or accuracy of the information. The information provided by Travellers’ ministries of foreign affairs are a reliable source with respect to many travel destinations.
It is the sole responsibility of the Traveller/Group leader to ensure that all Travellers are in possession of all requisite travel documents (passport, Visa, etc.) at the commencement of travel and that all Travellers fulfil the health requirements.
9. Insurance
To the extent that it is not expressly offered, insurance cover does not constitute part of the travel-related products and services offered. LUEX recommends that customers take out travel insurance, in particular travel cancellation cost insurance and in certain circumstances overseas travel insurance, including an overseas health cover component. LUEX names a reliable partner offering the relevant insurance policies to its customers at: http://www.luex.com/info/insurances.html.
10. Liability, responsibility
LUEX depends on the information provided to it by the Service providers with respect to the details of the travel-related goods and services. LUEX has only extremely limited opportunities to check such information with respect to their accuracy and completeness. Consequently, LUEX is unable to provide any guarantees or assurances with respect to the completeness, accuracy or currency of such information. The same applies for any other information made available by third parties.
LUEX is not liable for the availability of the travel-related product or service at the time of booking or for the performance of the booked travel-related product or service by the Service provider.

Otherwise liability is limited to the value of the travel-related products and services booked, in any case however to predictable and typical losses. The exclusions of liability or facilitation shall apply in the same manner to the executive bodies of LUEX, as well as to their vicarious agents.
Travellers and Group leaders shall be liable to LUEX for each and every reservation/booking that is made in bad faith or with deceitful intent or with erroneous or incomplete personal data. The opportunity to book travel-related goods and services may only be utilised in order to make legal bookings as a Traveller or as a Group leader for a third party. At the same time, in utilising the offerings the Group leader guarantees that they are authorised and are permitted to act in the name of fellow travellers. In the event that there is a breach of these guarantee, the Group leader is liable without limitation to LUEX and their respective Service providers for the losses resulting from the aforesaid person’s actions.
In many countries there are safety standards that differ from those generally found in Europe, Australia or the USA. Travelers/Group leaders are strongly encouraged, also in their own interest, to access information once again immediately before commencing travel in accessible sources, such as the internet pages of the Foreign Office, with respect to changes in the travel regulations and safety warnings for the country of destination.
11. Final provisions
Should business terms and conditions or parts of the agreement be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining parts of the agreements shall not be affected.
Amendments or additions to all agreements, including a divergence from these general terms and conditions, are only possible in text form (written, by fax or e-mail). Oral agreements require written confirmation to be valid.
All communication between LUEX and a Traveller/Group leader is to be undertaken by e-mail if possible. The Traveller/Group leader therefore promises to receive and read e-mails and implement the information/instructions from LUEX accordingly. LUEX must be informed immediately of changes in contact details.
All contractual relations between LUEX, its customers and Service providers are subject exclusively to German law - with the exception of the UN Contract for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) convention. Köln shall be the mutually agreed place of jurisdiction for non-German Travellers.

Martin, LUEX's Head of Travel, started out skating in the UK, before escaping to the powder of Canadian mountains. He found his way to LUEX through years of chasing snow in winter and waves in France during summer. These days, he manages our surf and snow teams, while squeezing in surf trips to his favorite right-handers at Cokes and Kasabu in the Maldives, or powder missions to the tree-lined runs of Revelstoke. At LUEX, he combines his love for board sports with making sure every trip runs smoothly.
