Alaska at its best: Owner couple Jessica and Kevin Quinn will make you feel at home at the legendary ocean-front Orca Logde. Exclusive use of the Chugach!
Years of experience as mountain guides
Jessica and Kevin Quinn, the unique owner couple of Point North Heliski, established a serious gem of a heliski operation. First of all, they both do rip like hell and truly understand what a real skier needs. Out in the mountains, they know how to push you but keep you safe at the same time. They have years of experience as mountain guides and give the highest attention to risk and safety management. But importantly, they both are super good folks and definitely have their heart in the right place, so that you feel at home in the surrounding backcountry and at this rustic ocean front place: The Orca Lodge!
State-of-the-art hotel with two storeys and 37 rooms
The Orca Lodge is the coolest place you can imagine. Built from a cannery which was established in 1887, it is now a state-of-the-art hotel with two storeys and 37 rooms. It is located directly on the ocean, with your helipad right in front. Visiting folks are usually international and young-minded, all mixing up and filling evenings and down days with plenty of life and stories. Meanwhile, PNH is very popular and well frequented. Maybe because Point North has been a part of the Warren Miller films for over ten years in a row. Also they have plenty of celeb guests such as Olympic Gold Medalist Seth Wescott, who is working on his frequent heli flyer status, returning year after year after year. Generally you will meet lots of repeat riders. Most of them thought it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but then realised it was only the start. Be aware, PNH has addiction potential!
The mountains grow from the ocean to 10.000 feet
AK is simply amazing, a rough stretch of land, a pure skiing miracle. It still is and always will be THE dream for any rider, still uncomparable to any other place on the planet. The steep faced mountains grow from the ocean to 10.000 feet and the area can receive up to 50 feet of snow annually. An important advantage, compared to some other operators in neighbouring regions, is that PNH provides exclusive use of the Southern Eastern Corner of the Chugach Mountains. In Valdez you would have to share with some other operators. The maritime snowpack allows for some real radical steep skiing. The folks at PNH really love to ride very aggressive terrain, provided the right conditions are in place. However, it is important to know that you really do not have to be an expert or extreme skier to have a good time in Alaska. There are runs for everybody!
The area can receive up to 50 feet of snow annually
The Packages at Point North probably offer some of the best values in Alaska. The offers are all-inclusive: Heli Hours, Lodging, Food and Airport Transfers - it is all taken care of. You can fully concentrate on your skiing! You will ride like you never did before thanks to the PNH mountain guides. As they might say - you just need to believe!
