Extended Description

If you wanna go off the beaten path in Japan, Rishiri Island is the ultimate powder destination for you. Imagine Mt. Fuji floating on its own island, 360 degrees ocean views from the top and possibility to ski the volcano from any side. The mountain will be pretty much yours, rarely meeting any other groups. We will ski long open runs as well as fun gullies filled with powder. If possible we will dedicate one day for a summit push. The view you can get from the top is out of this world. So we don’t have to tour as much, we will use snowmobiles for the first 300 vert. m. of each tour. After Rishiri, we will get to Central Hokkaido and ski our favorite lift access runs on the island.

Additional Trip Information

4 days on Rishiri island are ski-touring only days. We will try to hit the mountain from a different aspect on each day. You will be towed in by a snowmobile to approx. 300 m. above the sea level, so you don`t have to tour as much. One day we will dedicate to summit climb if the weather let us. Rishiri is not a technical climb, we recommend though, to bring ski crampons, axes, and crampons. Crampons and axes can be hired locally.  After Rishiri, we will move to Central Hokkaido and spend remaining 4 days skiing some best lift-accessed lines on the island.
