Experiences

COMO Uma Canggu lies on the sand's edge, just metres from where the waves break on one of Bali's finest surfing beaches. We have partnered with a surf expert to offer surfing lessons for guests of all abilities. For those wanting to explore inland we also offer a range of excursions, from visits to Bali's iconic sea temples, to trekking accross rice fields and through traditional villages.

Sightseeing in Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot lies 12 kilometres to the north west of COMO Uma Canggu and comprises sea temples standing on tide-shaped rocks on the west coast of Bali. This holy site is a popular place from which to see the spectacular sunset. According to local lore, this sea temple was built by priest Niratha, who asked a poisonous sea snake to guard the holy temple.

Ubud Discovery Tour

Ubud is Bali’s cultural heart, located in the mountains — a 60-minute drive from COMO Uma Canggu. This tour is designed around three key elements of Balinese culture: spirituality, art, and trade — taking you through galleries, temples, local shops and the rice terraces of Ubud. Speak to your guide about customising your tour to incorporate the elements of local culture you most want to experience. The tour leaves early in the morning to avoid the midday heat.

Purification Ceremony

Take part in a traditional Balinese purification ceremony at the historic Tirta Empul temple in north-east Ubud. Your guide will take you through every step of the Hindu purification ceremony in this 1000-year-old temple: making and presenting offerings, traditional prayers, dressing in temple attire and the holy water rituals.

Mount Batur Free Wheel

Ubud's most popular tour drives you up to the edge of the spectacular Mount Batur crater, from where you can freewheel almost all the way down to the village of Sebali. A few short, steep uphill sections at the end of the ride need not deter the casual cyclist; your guides are happy to take this route at a leisurely pace.

Tampaksiring Biking and Cultural Tour

egin your experience at the stunning vistas of the terraced Ceking rice fields, then cycle on to Tirta Empul. This temple dates back to AD 926, built on a site where springwater naturally bubbles up through the Earth’s surface, and a popular location for purification ceremonies. From here it’s an easy cycle downhill to Ubud, through some particularly striking local villages.

Turtle Surf Kids Club

Play by COMO's specialised learn-to-surf children's programme for ages eight to 14. Each lesson includes an interactive 20-minute ocean awareness session in the classroom educating children about safety and the physics of surfing, a 30-minute pool session learning basic technique, a 25-minute beach session looking for hazards and body surfing, and finally, 15 minute of games.
