Hotel Tugu Bali
For those of you who enjoy luxury, the balinese culture and still like to surf all day, this ocean front boutique hotel in the surfer hotspot of Canggu is perfect.
Lately fairly crowded
This hotel used to be the only one in the area, but there has been lots of construction in Canggu the last few years. The good news is there are lots of new and good restaurants, cute shops and bars. The bad news is its fairly crowded and definitely not as prestige and remote as before. You could hear the music from the beach bars to the room far past midnight, the beaches and water are not very clean and it is crowded. The service at the hotel is impeccable, food is excellent, and the rooms are very nice. However, with the new construction in the area we thought the overall impression and value of the hotel wasn't what we were looking for. Go here for an upscale and maybe a little overpriced place to stay if you want a hip/chic, but lately very lively beach town. If you are looking to fall asleep to the sound of the waves, walk on white sandy beaches and surf in turquoise water and non crowded waves, you might have to travel further than Bali.
