With so many vacation activities and tours, there is never a dull moment when you visit Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Some love to relax and soak up the tranquility while others are up for adventure and exploration. Whatever your thing is, we’ve got you covered.

Costa Rica is abundant with wildlife and every eco adventure tour lends opportunity to commune with nature. White faced capuchin, howler monkeys, armadillos, squirrels, white tailed deer, coati, raccoons, opossum, green and black iguanas, bats, porcupines, paca, margay, peccary, northern tamandua, agouti as well as a variety of tropical birds like the woodpecker, white threaded magpie-jay, bare throated tiger heron, crested caracara, white fronted parrot, black headed trogon, turquoise brown motmot, long tailed manakin, toucans, parrots, scarlet macaw and more.

Zip Line Canopy Tours

Fly through the canopy of the rainforest trees as the tropical jungle floor zips by below! Rich with diverse wildlife, guests will have great fun catching site of nature’s exotic wonders.

With over a kilometer of zip line cable and 9 platforms, this fast flying experience is a thrill to remember. Knowing that the strictest of safety measures are in place, guests can relax and enjoy exciting views of the Pacific Ocean and the forest from a whole new perspective up in the trees.

After the canopy tour, guests are welcome to hike the grounds and discover the forest’s many wonders up close.

Fishing Tours

A unique sport fishing experience awaits you in Mal Pais where your fishing guides are all local fishermen who have grown up in the area, fishing the waters for years. Offshore, close to shore or surf fishing are all offered and your chartered boat will be a 24 or 28 foot panga.

No fancy machines or fishing finders are needed when your guide knows the waters so well and your experience will be an authentic, organic experience that you will never forget. At the end of the day, your guide will clean the fish and your catch of marlin, sailfish, rooster fish, yellow finned tuna, red snapper or… (who knows with such abundance?) will make for a terrific dinner that evening back at the hotel.

Not into cooking? No problem- many restaurants in the area will do it up for you or you can ask the concierge to help you hire a chef to come to your place and prepare the evening’s meal.

Surfers worldwide make their way to Costa Rica year after year for the tremendous selection of perfect breaks for every level of experience; With hundreds of kilometers of coast line and thousands of beaches, Costa Rica has become a surf enthusiast’s dream and, during recent years, has even become home to several International surf contests including the ISP Billabong Surf Games of 2009.

Mal Pais, Playa Carmen and Santa Teresa boast a wide variety of unique breaks that make it the perfect location for everyone. And just 3 minutes walking distance from Nautilus hotel is, in some opinions, the best surfing spot in town.

Bring your own board or rent one, get out there on your own or take a lesson; its all up to you but no matter what, the surfs up and you’re going to love it!

Curu National Wildlife Refuge

Curú National Wildlife Refuge and Hacienda, located on the southern Nicoya Peninsula, is thick with abundant wildlife and hosts one of the most beautiful beaches and protected bays in the area. With rich opportunity to spot some of the most exciting and interesting species, visitors will catch sight of white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white tailed deer, collared peccary, coati, raccoons, coyotes, iguanas, scarlet macaws, toucans and hundreds of other tropical and migratory birds.

Curu is a wonderful example of a successful sustainable development program. The hacienda still boasts low levels of cattle grazing and produces tropical fruits for export. The refuge aims to produce a profit and sustain local employment while also protecting endangered habitats such as mangroves, tropical and dry forests and coral reefs

Horseback Riding

Explore the verdant hilly back lands of Mal Pais and Santa Teresa or ride close to the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve through lush, forested river valleys and up to sight points that overlook the vast and beautiful Pacific; Sunset rides along miles of sandy beach are always a pleasure, as well.

No matter when or where you choose to ride, you’ll have great fun and find that the well cared for horses are gentle enough for beginners but spirited enough for the experienced rider to have fun.

Isla Tortuga

Consisting of two large uninhabited islands off the coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, near Paquera, the pristine white sand beaches and lush vegetation of Isla Tortuga invite guests to explore, relax, swim and snorkel. During the boat ride over from Montezuma you will have the opportunity to spot dolphins, turtles and, perhaps, even a majestic whale shark if it’s the right season. You’ll also pass the Negritos and Guayabo Sanctuaries, where you’ll spot an abundance of sea birds and their nests. Often times these tours include lunch and drinks and always, all the snorkeling gear you’ll need.

Motorcycles and Quad Rentals

Get off road on a quad or motorcycle for an adventurous ride over the mountain into Cabuya and Montezuma or explore the secluded, beautiful beaches North of Playa Hermosa and Manzanillo where you can stop for a picnic lunch, a swim and a nap under a tree.

Boat Tours

Departing from the small fisherman’s port of Malpais, your captain will take you by Panga around the tip of the peninsula where you might see sea turtles, dolphins, manta rays or whales. Of course, crowds of maritime birds and tremendous sunsets are always a guarantee and you’ll sit back with a drink and a snack while you enjoy the ocean’s wonders.

Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve

Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve boasts 1250 hectares of forest and many kilometers of dramatic coastline, which is home to hundreds of animal and plant species (including the white faced and howler monkeys and the long-tailed coati) and Cabo Blanco Reserve is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Nicoya Peninsula.

Montezuma Day Trips

Just 40 minutes away by car or an hour by quad when you take the “scenic” route, Montezuma offers an abundance of beautiful little beaches, waterfalls, restaurants and shops.

Our certified, highly skilled massage therapists offer an array of modalities to benefit everyone. Be sure to book ahead of time and drift away under the skilled hands of your massage practitioner.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. This is a great massage for surfers!

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork that uses localized finger pressure in a rhythmic sequence on acupuncture meridians.

Each point is held for two to eight seconds to improve the flow of energy and help the body regain balance.

Swedish Massage Therapy

Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. This modality is perfect for those who want prefer gentle relaxation to deeper muscle manipulation.

Thai Massage

Like shiatsu, Thai massage aligns the energies of the body using gentle pressure on specific points. Thai massage also includes compressions and stretches. The massage is done on a floor mat and the client is fully clothed in comfortable yoga style clothing. The therapist moves your body into a sequence of postures, stretching the muscles and relaxing the joints. This is one of the most deeply relaxing massages available.

Tone your body and achieve balanced wellness through core strength training, flexibility and awareness when you attend daily Pilates classes in the Yoga Studio at Nautilus.

Our experienced instructors are available for scheduled daily sessions, as well as private classes for those who seek to incorporate a healthful practice into their daily lives while in Santa Teresa.
