Banyak Islands are part of surf exploration in Sumatra

The Banyak Islands are one of the last frontiers of surf exploration in Indonesia, and one of the remote places in the world. While the neighbouring Mentawais are swarming with over 50 operational charter boats, the Banyaks are home to just 4 – and one of them is ‘The Dream’.

Surfers’ dream of empty waves and tropical islands

As it’s name suggests, The Dream cruises the balmy waters off the coast of Sumatra, bringing that age-old surfers’ dream of empty waves and tropical islands to reality. In addition to classic waves like Treasures, Cobras and Joystick, there are several secret un-named waves to be enjoyed whilst others are still only now being discovered! With varying winds (always offshore somewhere!) and swells normally pumping from either the South or West, you can score great conditions and world class surf pretty much all year round – the Banyaks make a great ‘off season’ destination too.

Package with a mix of Indonesian and European food

The boat itself can accommodate 7-12 passengers in a combination of air-conditioned twin rooms and a 4-person dorm room. The package is completed with a great mix of Indonesian and European food, open-air terrace, TV, DVD and Xbox. Fishing, snorkeling and spearfishing equipment is available to help fill any downtime.

The Dream operates out of Sibolga in North Sumatra, and a transfer service can be arranged from Kuala Namu International Airport in Medan.
