The Green Rooms

I'l start with the bad, and end on a good note.
So booking with Leux was very helpful and I was in contact with Martin for a while, n=but its very expensive, I went for the Half package with 3 or 4 lessons a week and surf guiding to different spots. I paid just over a thousand euro for 2 weeks, but it can be booked far cheaper directly.
however, I didn't actually have any lessons as the instructor was busy with people learning, and we only did one trip to a spot an hour down the coast, and one afternoon out to the reef in the bay.
we were unlucky with the swell though as it dropped off after the first week so there was little to no waves out front of the camp.
asked a few times if there would be a wave anywhere else but was told probably not, so another guest and I got a tuktuk 20 mins up the coast to lazy's and there was a decent wave there.
so I was disappointed I didn't learn as much as I'd hoped on the trip, I didn't gain the experience I wanted to, or surf a lot of spots like I expected.

however, AJ and the crew that run the place are top guys, super chilled out and make you feel welcome, and will invite you to parties on a nighttime, normally in Mirissa.
the rooms are nice and traditional, keeping it basic which is a refreshing change and gives an authentic feel to the trip.
The food is great, and the fruit smoothies they make are perfect for warm morning breakfasts right on the beach.
The location could not be better, being right on the beach, with no more accommodation to the lefthand side,only fishing boats pushed up on the sand.
The country its self is absolutely beautiful, and AJ was spot on in organising a trip to Udawalawe national park, and a whale watching tour for me.
The locals are great an really friendly, and will be very thankful if you help then pull in the fishing boats, and everyone is friendly when you are out and about.
I woud definitely go back, but I'm sorry to say I wouldn't book through Leux again.
Sri Lanka however is an incredible place and should not be missed

There was this informal message to LUEX "I am 50 years old, healthy and want to become a surfer (preferably in Sri Lanka)" based on which Martin strongly recommended me the Green House in Weligama. He did not disappoint me, thanks Martin Jenner.

Everything was up to my expectations, this includes staff, instructors, fellow Surfers and I could exceed my own hopes (means surf skills ...) and do look forward to planning my next surf trip. LUEX (Martin) did a good Job recommending me the right place and AJ and his Team locally did their part perfectly - and Sri Lanka is such a beautiful and friendly Country!

Charming Sri Lanka Crew gives you a great service at there place. You will like to stay so close to the beach and you will forget the time and just chill there. Only 5 very nice appartements keep the place smooth and lazy. U wannt miss anything and if so, just ask for. Had great two weeks at this place.

Great location! Everyone that works there are very friendly. Food is the best around Weligama. And the most important, the surf classes were great! Definitely recommend this place!

The location is very beautiful. Rooms and camp are very clean and cosy. Best view to check the surfspot (beach break in front of the camp). Very nice gentle reef break to reach by fisher boat trip (app. 15 min). Very familiar surrounding and helpfull team. All symphatic local staff. Fresh seafood from the daily catch. Very good equipment. Flexible and uncomplicated owner who arranges all things you need (trip to the Horton Plains etc.). Close to Weligama (10 min. walk or 3 min. Tuck Tuck). Not overcroweded. Thank you AJ an team for 3 wonderfull weeks with unforgatable great surf, food and feeling. See you again!!! Special greetings to the young upcoming surfcoach Lucky...

Me and my boyfriend usually go surfing to French or Portugal coast. But this time we decided to do sth different and go to Sri Lanka. Such a beautiful country. And staying at the Green Rooms was the best. They took real good care for us. Breakfast and lunches were always fresh and good. I loved Sri Lankan dishes so much, that I decided to take some cooking lessons when I wasn’t surfing…And yeah, the surf is superb. The guides know where to take you for the best waves. Thanks a lot for a great surf vacation!
