This mega event is a 10-day festival with music, vendors, a beer garden, giveaways, parties, and of course some pure Alaskan powder. The World Freeride Festival is entering its 6th year and its Transworld Snowboarding’s #1 event and the world’s largest backcountry gathering. With a setting like Valdez, Alaska, festival participants will have direct access to the most big mountain terrain available with over 1.6 million skiable acres.
This festival of a lifetime is all about having fun and meeting other freeriders, but it’s also about learning how to be best the best and most well-informed backcountry riders. Some features of the festival include snow-science and survival education, sled-riding and sled-maintenance clinics, and other side events. This one of a kind festival is limited to just 150 participants and all participants should have some basic backcountry knowledge like how to use a beacon, shovel, and probe.
